Ebb & Flow Fiber Arts

I create my felted art vases and vessels by transforming raw wools and other fibers into fabric, using a wet-felting method. The process is comparable to how felt is created in Mongolia for yurts, hats and clothing.

For intricate surface designs and textures, I incorporate other fibers:

Flax: the stalks of this blue-flowered herb plant are used to make textile fiber

Ramie: a fiber yielding plant in the nettle family.

Silks: Mulberry silk and recycled Sari silk.

Tencel: a cellulose fiber obtained from wood pulp using recyclable solvents

My embroidery and our Lummi Island shells make each piece unique.
