Heritage Trust announces 120 acre purchase

Preserved forest on Lummi Island

The steep mountainous property is similar to the Baker Preserve.

The Lummi Island Heritage Trust has just purchased a 120-acre parcel on Lummi Mountain. The property is directly south and up-mountain of the Aiston Preserve and even larger than the reclaimed quarry currently under reclamation. Along with an adjacent DNR parcel, this creates a 400-acres corridor of protected land.

“Acquiring this property is a huge win for LIHT. We’re simply over the moon about it,” says Susan Hutton, Executive Director for the Heritage Trust. “We can’t wait for you to see it!”

The area will open to the public in the fall with a new trail. Learn more about this property at liht.org.
