Fundraising for AEDs

Update December 17, 2015

Thank you to all our caring Islanders who were able to raise all the funds needed to purchase the AEDs.

Local organizations are working together to fund two AED units for our community centers.

4 out of 5 islanders are over the age of 50 and statistically at higher risk of cardiac complications. Correct administration of CPR and the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) will save 2 more lives out of every 5 that would die without an AED by enabling a lay person to instantly administer CPR and defibrillation to a fellow Islander in cardiac arrest - safely and effectively.

The Fire Department, Parish Nurses, the Grange, the Congregational Church, and Lummi Island Community Association (LICA) have all endorsed purchasing AEDs as a priority within the community. We need to raise $3,200 to purchase 2 AEDs - one for the Grange and one for the Congregational Church - and hope to do so by December 12th. All donations are tax deductible.

Thank you for investing in our community!
